Organizations are already using Genai solutions and are evaluating strategies to integrate these tools into their business plans. Hard data availability is essential to drive informed decision-making and effective planning. This kind of data is surprisingly scarce.

Layerx’s “Enterprise Genai Data Security Report 2025” provides unprecedented insight into the practical application of AI tools in the workplace, highlighting key vulnerabilities. Drawing on real telemetry from Layerx’s enterprise clients, this report is one of the few reliable sources detailing the use of real employees at Genai.

For example, it has been revealed that almost 90% of enterprise AI usage occurs outside of IT visibility, leading to organizations going back to critical risks such as data leakage and unauthorized access.

Below you can find some of the report’s important findings. Read the full report, improve and enhance your security strategies, leverage data-driven decision-making for risk management, and evangelize for resources to enhance your Genai data protection measures.

Using genai in the enterprise is casual at best (for now)

Genai’s hype may seem like the entire workforce has moved office operations to Genai, but Layerx finds something that is a bit slimy in actual use. Approximately 15% of users access Genai tools every day. This is not a percentage that is ignored, but not a majority.

still. Here, in the new stack, we agree to Layerx analysis and predict this trend and accelerate quickly. Especially since 50% of users currently use Genai every other week.

Additionally, we find that 39% of regular Genai tool users are software developers. In other words, the best chance of data leakage via Genai means that the risk of using risky code in the codebase is the source and its own code.

How is genai used? who knows?

Since Layerx is in your browser, this tool visualizes the use of Shadow Saas. This means you can verify that you are using tools that are not approved by your organization’s IT or that you are using employees through non-engaged accounts.

Additionally, Genai tools like ChatGpt are used for work purposes, but nearly 72% of employees access them through personal accounts. If employees are able to access via corporate accounts, SSO only does about 12%. As a result, almost 90% of Genai usage is invisible to the organization. This blinds organizations to unauthorized sharing of corporate information about “Shadow AI” applications and AI tools.

50% of pasting activities Intogenai contains company data

Do you remember the Pareto principles? In this case, not all users use Genai every day, but the users who paste into the Genai application often do potentially sensitive information.

Layerx found that paste of corporate data occurs on an average almost four times a day among users who send data to the Genai tool. This includes business information, customer data, financial planning, source code, and more.

How to Use Genai: What Businesses Need to Do Now

The findings in the report show that new security strategies are urgently needed to manage genai risks. Traditional security tools cannot cope with modern AI-driven workplaces where applications are browser-based. They lack browsers, the ability to detect, control, and protect AI interactions at source.

Browser-based security provides visibility into AI SaaS applications, unknown AI applications beyond ChatGot, AI-enabled browser extensions, and more. This visibility can be used to adopt DLP solutions in Genai, allowing businesses to safely include Genai in their plans and include future businesses in the future.
