The four-year-old Swiss startup has raised a significant chunk of change to capitalize on the burgeoning “agent AI” movement.
Unique said Thursday it raised $30 million in a Series A funding round led by London-based VC firm DN Capital and Commerzventures, a German Commerzbank investment troops.
“Agent AI” is currently one of the biggest trends in technology, but there is no definition of what AI agents really are. The fundamental core concept is that AI agents need more than just a simple chatbot with the ability to make decisions and perform a variety of tasks, including online shopping, filing cost reports, and improving factory efficiency.
Founded in 2021 in Zurich by CEOs Manuel Grenacher, CCO Michel Heppler and CTO Andreas Hauri (pictured above), Unique hopes to strengthen the agent AI workforce for financial services such as banking, insurance and private equity.
This means automating workflows in areas such as research, compliance, and KYC (“knowing customers”). Unique offers an instantly customizable AI agent. One is an investment research agent that utilizes internal and external knowledge to provide answers to natural language queries.
There is also a due diligence agent. It analyzes documents such as satisfying transcripts and compares them with past ratings and suggests potential questions bank officials should ask.

The company originally focused on AI-driven video for sales teams, but during that time it evolved to something similar to “Finance Team Co-pilot.” And in 2023 Unique lived with Pictor, a private national bank in Switzerland.
Unique also includes other well-known Swiss financial institutions, such as UBP and Graubündner Kantonalbank, which are known for their clients.
With the new $30 million banks in the bank, Unique said it plans to accelerate international expansion with a special focus on the US market. The company has raised a total of $53 million so far.
