Dublin, Ireland, April 11, 2025, Chain Wire
The AB Charity Foundation officially launched its global operations and unveiled its newly upgraded website www.ab.org, marking the beginning of a public initiative based on institutional reliability and advanced blockchain technology. Headquartered in Ireland, with legal status recognized under EU law, the foundation is positioned as a global nonprofit organization committed to reshaping the future of public trust and sustainable development by bridging government, civil society and the technological community.
The foundation’s governance is led by a prominent board of directors made up of former European heads of state. The board is chaired by Bertier Hearn, former Ireland’s three-term prime minister and leading architect of the Good Friday contract. Members of the board include Lawrence Gonzi (former Prime Minister Malta), Peter Messie (former Prime Minister Hungary), Danilo Talk (former President Slovenia) and Petal Stoyanov (former President of Bulgarian).
The Foundation will actively expand its Global Advisory Committee to bring respected figures from all five continents, including former presidents, scientists, diplomats and cultural leaders, to guide strategic planning and promote international cooperation to provide impactful social initiatives.
At the heart of the Foundation’s mission is its commitment to public goods that promote global efforts in education, healthcare, environmental protection and humanitarian aid. The Foundation aims to create a “verified model of cooperative goodwill” that drives transparent governance and next-generation technology. As its founder emphasizes, “It’s not a specific technology that changes the world, but it’s a shared consensus on trustworthy institutions and global cooperation.”
The AB Charity Foundation is technically supported by AB DAO and provides the blockchain infrastructure that supports the foundation’s operations. Through smart contract automation, 15% to 30% of the gas fees from all transactions in the AB public chain are directed towards a dedicated charity pool. This mechanism enables new operating models for charitable funding – combine on-chain financing, automated distribution, full-chain auditing and third-party compliance assurances.
Additionally, 15% to 30% of the revenue generated from investments from the AB Ecosystem Fund will also be directed towards the foundation pool. The fund already supports dozens of projects, has more initiatives in the pipeline, and is enhancing the financial sustainability of the foundation’s mission.
By leveraging the inherent transparency of blockchain, the foundation aims to become a scalable model of the next generation of charitable infrastructure. All donation supplies are traceable, all distributions are verifiable, and all intents are respected.
