Adam Candeub, a famous critic of BIG TECH, seems to be preparing for the Federal Communications Committee (FCC).

Semafor reports that Candeub has become an FCC legal advisor and quotes direct confirmation from FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. TechCrunch has contacted FCC for details.

Candeub has been a critic of the 1996 -in -handed section 230 in the 1996. The section 230 protects high -tech companies and online service providers based on what users post on the platform. The debate on abolishing sections 230 is that high -tech entities, including social media companies, are responsible for what they have posted on the platform, and may lead to censorship.

In 2020, Candeub was one of the main writers of the administrative petition requested by the FCC to participate in the moderation of social media content moderation. Discussion after Donald Trump has accused the company, such as X (Twitter at the time), moderated in incorrect claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election, and then censorship of a conservative voice. Is caused.

The attempt to suppress the power of section 230 was not successful. More recent issues have failed. In 2023, the Supreme Court adopted the side of Google and Twitter in an adjacent case that was responsible for the platform to allow the content from the Islamic state that promoted terrorism.

Conversation around section 230 was considered to be more likely to appear again in the government. Candeub will join the FCC with the recently appointed CARR Chair. CARR is already loudly speaking about what he wants to change sections 230 during the administration.

Candeub used to be an FCC advisor in the early 2000s. He joined the Trump administration as Deputy Director of Commerce and Information in 2019, and also acquired the role of a substitute secretary. He joined the Judicial Ministry as the Deputy Vice Secretary -General in a week of President Trump in late 2020. Currently, CANDEUB is a law professor at Michigan State University. He first participated in the Faculty of Law in 2004.
