Apple said today that it has opened a catalogue so that users can build a mix set by integrating the platform with many tools. These tools include Algoriddim’s Djay Pro software, hardware platforms Alphatheta, Serato, Engine DJ for Inmusic, Denon DJ, Numark, and Rane DJ.

This could attract DJs to explore a catalogue of over 100 million songs on Apple Music, giving aspiring DJs the opportunity to play some of these tools.

The company is also launching a new DJ with DJ-friendly editorial playlists, curator pages highlighting DJ software and hardware partners, and Apple Music category pages featuring mixes for inspiration and practice.

“Apple Music is committed to supporting DJs. With this latest integration, we are working on that commitment further. We are linking Apple music directly to the industry’s leading DJ software and hardware. This innovation brings the full power of Apple Music to creative workflows, making music easier for DJs to access, play and discover music in real time than ever before.

Apple said that since starting streaming DJ Mix sets in 2021, the company has added thousands of sets to its platform.

Various music streaming platforms are considering offering more tools for song creation and remixing. In 2024, SoundCloud announced integration with six tools for editing, remixing and custom sample creation. Last year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Spotify was considering introducing tools and subscriptions that allow users to remix songs. Startups like Point72 Ventures-Backed Hook are also trying to create a market for legal remixes through their apps.
