Athens’ Strictlyvc features the Greek Prime Minister

We are excited to announce that Greek Prime Minister Kiliakos Mitotakis will be taking part in the upcoming StrictlyVC event in Athens, co-hosted with Endeavor at the stunning Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on Thursday night, May 8th.

For those who are not familiar with his background, Mitotakis brings an engaging blend of experiences to the table. Before entering politics, he worked for both McKinsey and Chase investment banks, giving him first-time business experience that many operators across the startup ecosystem could understand. The youngest of four children, he also has an academic qualification in Silicon Valley style. He headed to Harvard University, then completed a Masters in International Relations from Stanford, and eventually earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mitsotakis has long defended Greek technological transformation. In fact, after navigating the country through the pandemic, he doubled by positioning Athens as an emerging high-tech hub, and recently introduced initiatives that attract international talent, including tax incentives and reforms aimed at reducing bureaucratic red tapes for new businesses.

The Prime Minister comes from a politician – his father was the Prime Minister and his sister was the mayor of Athens – but he carved his own reputation as a reformer focused on modernizing the Greek economy. His administration is particularly interested in how technology can help diversify famous traditional Greek strengths such as transportation and tourism.

StrictlyVC events are constrained by design to provide participants with a unique opportunity for investors, founders and ecosystem builders to engage directly with power players like the Prime Minister, so if you want to ask the government’s vision for the future of Greek technology, and how the country fits into the broader European innovation landscape, this is your chance.

For more information about this, see the agenda and other speakers (you can also purchase tickets while tickets are still available). The registration is open to something filled with lighting debates, with promises to be a fun night, and this chat–one of Europe’s most interesting political leaders in the story of Greek emerging technology is definitely something you don’t want to miss. Sign up for your StrictlyVc Greek ticket.
