Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei shared his thoughts on whether the AI industry is in a bubble at the New York Times Dealbook Summit on Wednesday. This was done in addition to overshadowing a specific, unnamed competitor, which is clearly OpenAI. Amodei declined to give a simple yes or no answer, citing the complexities of bubbles, but instead elaborated on his thoughts on the economics of AI. He said he was bullish about the technology’s potential, but warned that there could be players in the ecosystem who make “timing errors” and that “bad things” could happen in terms of financial returns.…
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Thursday’s XPost that owners can now text and drive using the latest version of the company’s fully autonomous (supervised) driver-assistance software, even though it’s illegal in most states. Musk responded to another user who noticed that the latest software update, known as FSD, no longer flashes warnings when using a cell phone while driving. Tesla’s CEO wrote that the update will allow it to do so “depending on surrounding traffic conditions.” Mr. Musk did not provide details, and Tesla does not have a public relations team that could provide further information. Musk did not…
This year’s most prolific meteor shower is about to deliver more shooting stars than any other meteor shower, with near-perfect conditions for skywatchers. The annual Geminid meteor shower begins Thursday (December 4) and will remain active for the next two weeks. But this year’s peak will be the night of attention. As many as 150 meteors per hour can be seen in the night sky during the Geminid meteor shower’s peak from Saturday, December 13 to Sunday, December 14, with the best views likely from the northern hemisphere. This year’s show will be even more special as the peak nights will take…
Researchers think they may have found a way to improve “lazy eyes” even in adults who have been suffering from the condition since childhood. However, this technology has so far only been tested in animals and requires further research before it can be used in human patients.Lazy eye, or amblyopia, develops in early childhood when the brain prioritizes one eye over the other, resulting in decreased vision in the non-preferred eye. The standard treatment involves patching the stronger eye and making the brain rely on the weaker eye. However, this method only works during infancy and early childhood, when the neural…
A threat actor known as Silver Fox was discovered to be orchestrating false flag operations that mimic Russian threat groups in attacks targeting Chinese organizations. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) poisoning campaigns use Microsoft Teams lures to trick unsuspecting users into downloading malicious setup files, which lead to the deployment of ValleyRAT (Winos 4.0), a known malware associated with Chinese cybercrime groups. This activity has been implemented since November 2025. “This campaign uses a modified ‘ValleyRAT’ loader containing Cyrillic elements to target Chinese-speaking users, including those within Western organizations operating in China. It is likely a deliberate move to mislead attribution,”…
An unknown volcanic eruption in the mid-14th century may have set the stage for the spread of the Black Death in Europe, according to new research. The eruption caused a period of cool and cloudy weather in the Mediterranean Sea, setting off a domino effect that led to a decline in agricultural production. Merchants therefore had to import grain and the Yersinia pestis bacteria that causes bubonic plague via the Black Sea.The bubonic plague pandemic, commonly known as the Black Death, reached Europe in 1347 and quickly affected the port cities of Italy. The plague then spread across Europe over…
Scientists have discovered a record number of fossilized dinosaur footprints and swim tracks in a national park in central Bolivia. The new study shows that the track trail follows what was once an ancient coastline, rippled from northwest to southeast along footprints and other footprints. Most of the footprints are from bipedal, three-toed dinosaurs known as theropods, which lived during the late Cretaceous period (145 million to 66 million years ago), but the scientists noted that many bird footprints have also been preserved. The paper was published in the academic journal PLOS One on Wednesday (December 3).”This is the highest number…
Apple on Thursday unveiled its annual list of App Store Award winners, continuing its tradition of recognizing the best apps and games of the past year. The iPhone app of 2025 winner was the visual planner Tiimo, and the iPhone game of the year was the card game Pokémon TCG Pocket. While Apple has continued to avoid naming dedicated AI apps or AI chatbots as App of the Year, AI was featured among this year’s winners. For example, Tiimo, Apple’s app of the year, is described as a visual AI planner that turns to-dos into plans with visual timelines. The…
The NATWORK project is working to build and deploy the first economically realistic, energy-efficient, and viable 6G cybersecurity and resiliency framework. Adopting a holistic approach and considering all elements of the cross-sector business environment to address the diverse requirements and challenges that arise, NATWORK aims to establish and deploy an economically realistic, energy-efficient, and viable bio-inspired artificial intelligence (AI)-based 6G cybersecurity and resilience framework for intelligent networking and services. Nutwork’s vision This project aims to develop a new AI-powered self-adaptive security mechanism for 6G networks based on resilient biomimetic principles. Our vision spans six key pillars. Detailed extension definition of…
Southern Europe’s already scorching dry summers could worsen over the next 1,000 years due to increased extreme droughts and longer dry seasons if major ocean current systems collapse, a new study suggests. This is the first time researchers have compared what would happen to summer precipitation in Europe under different climate scenarios if the Atlantic Meridional Circulation (AMOC) were to collapse. The AMOC is a major current system in the Atlantic Ocean that transports heat from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere and helps regulate global climate. Scientists have previously warned that human-induced climate change may be weakening current large-scale systems…
