Benchmark for Greptile’s Lead Series A lecture, AI Code Reviewer, valued at $100 million, according to sources

Greptile, an AI-powered code review startup, is in the process of raising Series A. The transaction-savvy source has won $30 million at a $180 million valuation led by benchmark partner Eric Vischlia. However, some say the deal has not been closed and the terms may change.

Founded by Dasksh Gupta after graduating from Georgia Tech in 2023, the startup passed the Y Combinator in the winter of its 2024 cohort and collected a $4 million seed round led by initialized capital after completing the program.

Gupta told TechCrunch last year that the bots his company developed act as experienced colleagues and have a deep understanding of the code of their customers, allowing them to identify bugs and other potential issues that human reviewers might miss.

Like most areas of AI, the code review space is very competitive.

Greptile’s most notable rivals include Graphite, a startup that submitted a $52 million Series B led by Accel, with participation from the likes of Menlo Ventures, A16Z and the Anthology Fund of Humanity. Another important competitor is Coderabbit. Last year, we secured a $16 million Series A from CRV.

Fierce competition has led Greptile to require staff to spend very long hours.

Gupta, 22 at the time, posted that Greptile, which was featured on X in November, “does not provide work-life balance.” Employees usually work from 9am to 11pm, including Saturdays, and sometimes write on Sundays.

After the post went viral, Gupta told multiple news outlets that it would require the best efforts from all team members if they surpass the competition. “No one cares about the third best company, or the second best company in any category of software. If you spend 95% of your effort, that’s about putting 0% of your efforts,” Gupta said in an interview with Inc.

Whatever your work culture, attracting benchmarks like A-list VC with a healthy Series A rating could also help with Greptile’s journey.

Greptile and Benchmark did not respond to requests for comment.
