Designed as an integration gateway, the platform transforms the way researchers, businesses and public sector organizations interact with EuroHPC systems, removing long-standing barriers to entry and collaboration.
As the core of the EuroHPC Federation Platform, it deploys a single access point to multiple operational EuroHPC Joint Undertaining (JU) systems.
Users will be able to log in through a harmonized authentication and authorization infrastructure, eliminating the need to navigate separate credentials and processes between different supercomputing centers.

Tackling fragmentation in European HPC environments
Europe’s supercomputing infrastructure consists of world-class systems distributed across different centers, each with its own tools and procedures.
These differences extend to important functions such as authentication, resource allocation, job scheduling, and software provisioning.
This diversity reflects regional expertise, but access has historically been complicated and seamless collaboration across borders has been limited.
The EuroHPC Federation Platform addresses this fragmentation by introducing a secure, standardized layer that connects these systems without losing their strengths.
By simplifying the way users interact with multiple infrastructures, the platform lowers technical barriers and makes cross-site collaboration more practical and efficient.
An integrated platform built with accessibility and efficiency in mind
The EuroHPC Federation Platform is positioned as a ‘one-stop shop’ and is tailored to a wide user base including researchers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public sector organizations.
A unified software catalog and streamlined processes for allocation and data transfer reduce administrative overhead and improve ease of use.
The platform also supports broader strategic objectives. This includes increasing cost efficiency by avoiding duplication of effort, maintaining high security standards, and promoting awareness of energy-efficient computing practices.
Together, these elements are consistent with Europe’s broader push towards sustainable and responsible digital infrastructure.
A powerful consortium to drive development
Development of the EuroHPC Federation Platform began in January 2025 under the leadership of the CSC-IT Center for Science.
The initiative brings together a consortium of leading European institutions, including the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, the University of Tartu, Ghent University, GÉANT and NORDUnet.
This collaborative approach reflects the platform’s broader mission to bring together expertise across Europe while delivering a consistent user experience.
Future expansion: AI, quantum, and data ecosystem
While initial deployments are focused on new projects and assignments, the EuroHPC Federation Platform is designed with scalability in mind.
Future updates will expand its capabilities beyond traditional HPC systems to include EuroHPC AI factories and quantum computing resources.
The platform is also expected to be integrated with major European data environments such as SIMPL, EOSC, and FENIX. This allows users to access not only computing power but also distributed data lakes and data spaces through a single interface.
As the platform evolves, it will play a central role in enabling advanced research and industrial innovation across Europe, positioning the EuroHPC Federation Platform as a cornerstone of the continent’s digital infrastructure strategy.
