Cloud Security Startup’s workaround raised $6 million in seed funding from Paladin Capital Group to help the team reduce alert overload and correct risks faster. Fresh capital injections will be directed towards product development, early customer engagement and the establishment of a commercial headquarters in San Francisco, but R&D is rooted in Australia.
The platform uses AI to similarly alerts for filtering, correlation, and prioritization across enterprise infrastructure (cloud-native tools, open source, and third-party systems). It links these signals to a business context, helping you guide your team with source-level remediation and focus on what needs to be remediated.
Evasion was founded by Michael Watts and his longtime friend Thomas Bui. Watts previously launched Cloud Conpormity. This was acquired by Trend Micro in a $100 million deal. Currently CTO Bui plays roles in banks, government and Uber. Together, they have built a track record of providing practical tools to solve real security issues.
Startups are taking on one of the most frustrating issues in cloud security: alert fatigue. Rather than manually triage teams’ endless alerts, the company’s multi-agent AI system learns the customer’s environment and handles prioritization and remediation automatically. These virtual agents connect to the devsecops workflow and are built to act like security specialists, except for burnout.
“We’re not just generating more alerts. We’re building an intelligence layer that helps our team understand what to fix, why it’s important, and how to take immediate action to resolve the root cause,” Watts said.
Bui adds, “by adjusting alerts in a real-time business context, mercilessly prioritizing risk, identifying the root cause, and enabling engineering teams to take accurate and targeted remediation actions at the source.”
The company is already working with major companies in the US, Australia and New Zealand. These include large AWS, Azure, Google Cloud customers, and more.
“We are excited to work again with Michael Watts and the exceptional founding team of Avoidance,” said Tom Crute, Paladin Capital Group’s principal. “Avoidance addresses one of the most important challenges in cloud security today: filling the gap between identifying risks and driving effective, scalable remediation.”
Avoidance makes it easier for cloud teams to act faster without sacrificing safety, and wants to turn alerts into actions without noise.
