Evernote founder Phil Libin is ready to liven up your video conference. MMHMM, an entrepreneurial video startup, launched in 2020 amid the pandemic and announced its latest product, the online conference video toolkit called Airtime, on Thursday. The suite includes two related tools: A virtual camera that helps you make more refined viewing on video calls, and a presentation tool that lets you and your colleagues display it on the screen like your slides.

The company believes these products will help make online meetings more attractive and professional. Today, people tend to either compete in meetings with more casual dresses, bad backgrounds, or choose to turn off the camera. The new tool is intended to encourage users to participate in meetings and become more memorable.

With Airtime Creator, you not only show the slides, but present them to the audience as the tool is called. If selected, up to 10 people may be displayed simultaneously on the screen.

If the product sounds familiar, it’s because it’s effectively the successor to MMHMM’s original offering. The rebranded tool includes all of the early versions and can be used to build a presentation that is your focus, the company says. It also includes controls that allow you to customize the appearance, background, and presentation content and layout.

Airtime Camera is another new product that allows you to create a distinctive custom look in online meetings held via Zoom, Team, Meet, WebEx and other services. With the camera you can design or color the background, add logos, and react using visuals or GIFs. The idea is that these types of customization can help you get more attention when you’re in the sea of your head at an online meeting or when it helps to strengthen your brand.

In addition to launching the tool, MMHMM assumes the name Airtime as its official brand. Existing customers with the MMHMM app installed on their desktop will see the app name and icon changes at the next startup, and receive both tools, Airtime Creator, and Airtime cameras. (Web users will immediately check for changes.)

The name of the MMHMM virtual camera will be updated to “Broadcast Time” in the conference software settings.

The startup, formerly known as MMHMM, is backed by Sequoia Capital, SoftBank Vision Fund, and previously shut down with $100 million of external capital.

The company points out that Airtime cameras will be free until August 1st, allowing customers to try out new products. It is then available for a one-time fee of $20 to continue. However, the Airtime Creator Tool is available as a $10/month subscription, but offers a free trial.
