Gap’s been making jeans since the ’60s, but there’s more to the brand’s latest denim designs than meets the eye.

Under the creative direction of Zac Posen, GapStudio’s fall collection includes everything from chic tees to utility pants — but we immediately zeroed in on the trompe l’oeil denim styles.

“I have always loved playing with perception,” Posen told Page Six Style exclusively. “Across the room you think you know exactly what you’re looking at, then you get closer and you don’t.”

The brand printed photorealistic denim onto terry, resulting in deceptively cozy styles like the Printed Denim Sweatshirt and matching Terry Dress. (Posen applied the same innovative effect to sheer mesh to create a Printed Denim T-Shirt, too.)

And fans will surely flip for the primary Gap collection’s Printed Baggy Sweatpant Jeans, which are as comfortable as pajama bottoms.

“Taking something familiar and making people look twice is a very Gap idea,” Posen told us.

The brand’s certainly had fans doing double takes lately, whether going viral for its celeb-adored denim totes or dressing stars for the red carpet.

But to hear Posen tell it, Gap’s ethos isn’t about four-figure custom looks.

“Beautiful things shouldn’t only exist for a few hundred people,” the designer said. “Gap reaches everyone. That’s the rarest thing it has, and it means real design and real craft can be part of an ordinary Tuesday.”
