Decentraland’s flagship virtual event will return April 9-12 to showcase digital fashion as a new canvas of storytelling, activism and global identity.
Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) will return to Decentraland from April 9-12 amid a shift fashion situation characterized by a decline in traditional luxury sales and evolving consumer preferences. MVFW 2025 highlights the growing relevance of digital fashion as a meaningful response to these industry transformations. Under this year’s theme, “Infinite Identities,” over 47 global designers and brands will leverage digital media to challenge creative boundaries and clarify subtle cultural identities.
The newly redesigned desktop client for the platform hosted with Decentraland 2.0 offers improved visuals, improved interactivity and improved accessibility. Developed during the event break, these enhancements provide an immersive and engaging environment for both participants and creators.
“This year’s Metaverse Fashion Week is at a critical moment for fashion and our society as a whole. It’s marked as a rethinking of priorities, reliability and connection,” said Bay Backner, head producer at MVFW. “I have the privilege of working closely with all designers and brands participating. I have seen how digital fashion raises unprecedented voices, ask important questions, and stimulates real cultural change. In these times, the physical world feels increasingly heavy, and a third space like the escape of the body will become a place where people can breathe, create and immerse themselves in the environment.
Runway: Fashion as a cultural dialogue
While runways have always been the cornerstone of Fashion Week around the world, MVFW 2025 rethinks this classic form through immersive, collaborative and interactive experiences. Participants can predict creative surprises as designers redefine the runway with innovative anime collections that blur the boundaries between digital and physical fashion.
Cyberdog: London’s iconic brand brings a rave reviewed aesthetic into the virtual realm, combining futuristic fashion with underground e-subculture.
Liberating Youth: Ghanaian collective free youths celebrate bold, culturally driven designs that highlight Africa’s streetwear and creativity and bridge the physical and virtual worlds.
Banners We Wear: Decentraland’s first MVFW Award reveals a deep, personal collection from emerging designers. With a $15,000 prize pool, this unique competition challenged designers globally to create digital wearables that convey a powerful message of identity, activism and resilience. Winning entries make their debut on dedicated runways, shining the spotlight on urgent social narratives and are often marginalized in mainstream ways.
Interactive Designer Showroom: Digital Fashion as Storytelling
At the heart of MVFW 2025 is 16 interactive designer showrooms, each exploring the interactions of fashion, technology and cultural narratives. These showrooms are divided into two theme zones that reinforce the self-known self and provide a clear and complementary perspective on digital self-expression.
Enhanced Self: This zone highlights the innovative use of AI, AR, and digital physics (“plant”) fashion. The showroom includes AI-driven styling with digital drip, AR-enhanced virtual fashion with Ffface.me, NFT-driven wearable collaboration from another X-tempra, and Microchip nail polish technology from the chip. Dedicated to fashion as a celebratory self: cultural storytelling, this zone shines a spotlight on global narrative and identity-driven collections. Important highlights include adaptive fashion for prosthetics with SVD denim in Ukraine, hyphae-inspired digital wearables from the GLTCH Atelier in Amsterdam, and culturally resonating digital storytelling from the Spatial Guiners group in Puerto Rico.
Immersive experiences and insightful conversations
Beyond the runways and showrooms, MVFW 2025 invites participants to experience transformative fashion installations and conversations that explore identity, technology and culture.
“Entangled Q” by Cansy: A quantum-style art installation featuring avatars that dynamically morph and explore fluid identity. “Expanding the Galaxy of the World” with Immersive Types: A futuristic display that combines AI-generated beauty, robotic couture, and interstellar aesthetics.
The curated set of panels cover the evolving role of avatars in digital self-expression, their impact on fashion creativity, wearable technology in gaming environments, and the intersection of physical and virtual retail, digging deeper into key conversations. Panelists include industry leaders such as Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Parsons School of Design, Ready Player Me, Institut Français de La Mode, and Boy’s Club.
Metaverse Fashion Week 2025 raises the appetite for fashion that has meaning beyond trends, showing a shift towards important narratives and globally resonating identity. As digital spaces become an essential platform for expression, Centraland opens up new possibilities for creators and communities to create a more free and inclusive vision of fashion. With immersive runways, interactive storytelling, and conversations that challenge the status quo, MVFW 2025 invites you to experience how digital fashion is reflected and re-changed.
