Google announced Tuesday that it will be able to access historic street view images on Google Earth. Until now, Google Maps has only been able to access historic street view images. Google says the launch will allow you to explore from more perspectives, whether it’s a bird’s-eye view or on a street level.

Google is introducing an update to celebrate Google Earth’s 20th birthday.

Last year, there was a trend in social media, so the release will occur. This allowed people to visit Google Maps to effectively visit time travel, finding their loved ones in images, or see how the place evolved over time. Now, users will be able to do that right away from Google Earth, says Tech Giant.

The company also announced that professional US users will have access to new AI-driven insights into Google Earth’s planets, including urban tree canopy coverage.

For example, in Austin, Texas, users can view areas with more tree covers and identify spots that may benefit from the cooling approach. You can also access land surface temperature data to inform you of urban planning decisions and see which parts of the city are hot.

As part of Google Earth’s 20th anniversary ceremony, the company looked back at the service’s history, launching the platform in 2005, quickly going viral, achieving 100 million downloads within its first week.

Google says over the past year, people have searched more than 2 billion times for Google Earth locations.
