According to an email sent to employees seen by the Wall Street Journal, Google will no longer meet its diversity employment goals and will review diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Google is currently joining other tech companies rolling back DEI practices, particularly as DEI practices are being attacked by conservative groups. Amazon and Meta have also rolled back Dei’s actions over the past few months.

Google first implemented the DEI goal in 2009, setting a goal of increasing adoption from underrated groups by 30% in 2020, and according to the latest Diversity Report in 2024, it was in 2022. He said he achieved his goal. The report shows that among its leadership, 5.7% have been identified as flat since 2023, while 7.5% have been identified as Latinos, indicating that they are flat. According to the email, Google is considering whether it will continue to publish its Diversity Report and assess whether it should comply with the latest court ruling or executive order aimed at restraining DEI measures. He said he was.

When it reached Google for comments, the spokesman provided the following statement:

“We are committed to creating a workplace where all employees can be successful and have equal opportunities, and last year we have a program designed to help them get there. We’ve been reviewing. We’ve updated our 10-K language to reflect this. As a federal contractor, our team also made necessary changes following recent court decisions and executive orders on this topic. I’m evaluating it.”
