Google I/O 2025: How All AI and Android Reveal

Google is preparing to hold its largest developer meeting, Google I/O 2025, on May 20 and May 21st. CEO Sundar Pichai, Deepmind CEO and co-founder Demis Hassabis, as well as executives in search, cloud and Android, announce major updates to Google’s product offerings.

I hope Google I/O 2025 will focus a lot on AI (seriously, a lot).

Gemini, a family of Google’s AI models, could potentially take center stage during Google I/O 2025 as Pichai and Hassabis continue to seek an advantage over Openai, Xai, humanity and other funded competitors. We are also looking forward to updates on DeepMind projects, such as the multimodal AI system project Astra. At Google I/O last year, the company teased smart glasses with Project Astra.

A key theme for Google I/O 2025 is how AI can infiltrate all of Google’s products. For example, Google’s search manager Elizabeth Reid speaks about how AI is “revolutionizing” during the AI stage. Other Google Executives will be talking about how scientists use AI, how AI agents use apps to users, and how Waymo autonomous vehicles use AI to navigate the physical world.

The Google I/O 2025 keynote will begin at 10am on May 20th at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View. You can watch the live stream of Google keynotes here or see it with the embedded below. The developer’s keynote speech begins at 1:30pm. As the name suggests, developer keynotes don’t focus much on the consumer side of things.

Later that day, at 3:30pm, Hassavis speaks to The Big Technology Podcast host Alex Kantrowitz about the future of Deep Mind’s AI and its impact on the world. At the same time, there will be live-streamed talks about the latest updates for Android, Chrome and Google Cloud.

Some of the talks at Google I/O will not be livestreamed, but fortunately, TechCrunch is on the ground covering the biggest announcements from the event.

This year, the Android announcement will take place one week before Google I/0 2025 during an event called “The Android Show.” Kick off at 10am on Tuesday and watch the live stream here.
