This week, Google announced that it will no longer support or release software updates for first and second generation Nest Learning Thermostats from October 25th. And it will stop launching new nest products in Europe altogether.

This means that owners of nest thermostats released in 2011 and 2012 (and versions released in Europe in 2014) will not receive updates, and that device will no longer be supported by nests or home apps. However, they can directly adjust temperature and schedule on the device.

“Completely invest [future] The latest generation of nest thermostats will advance the most cutting edge and bring you. We’re moving from supporting three oldest devices each over ten years ago,” Google says.

Regarding the reasons why nest thermostats will no longer be launched in Europe, the company added, “European heating systems are unique and have a variety of hardware and software requirements that are difficult to build for a variety of homes.” Existing nested devices will continue to be sold in Europe, but the consumables will be the last one.
