Gravitee, a platform designed to allow businesses to manage APIs and other digital traffic pipelines, has raised $60 million in the Series C funding round led by Sixth Street growth, with participation from Riverside Acceleration Capital and Albion VC.

According to CEO Rory Blundell, the new capital that raises Gravitee’s total to just over $125 million will be used to fund the development of new product features and expansion into new markets.

Modern data systems are complex. For example, an API is a set of rules that allow various apps to communicate and exchange data, often accompanied by their own tools and protocols. Blundell argues there is a risk that companies create blind spots without a control plane to connect different systems, slowing innovation.

“[C]Ompanies integrates AI agents, streaming data, APIs and hybrid systems faster than ever,” Blundell said in a statement.

Blundell azzied developers in 2015 with Elamrani, David Broassely, Nicolas Géraud and Titouan Compiegne. What began as an open source project quickly evolved into business. Today, Gravitee offers paid services to fund the development of freely available software.

The Gravitee platform can be deployed on-premises, self-hosted, or used as part of Gravitee’s service plan as software. Features in all releases include tools for designing APIs and deploying them before mock testing, as well as dashboards that allow users to visualize the components of their API deployment.

Gravitee competes with Blobr. Blobr provides software to expose and monetize enterprise APIs. Another top rival is Stepzen, which develops Graphtech, which helps connect and visualize various APIs.

Blundell argues that Gravitee is distinguished by support for both asynchronous APIs (i.e., APIs that return data later) and synchronous APIs (APIs that return data immediately). Some vendors do not offer this.

According to Blundell, Gravitee currently has hundreds of customers. According to this, they include Blue Yonder, Michelin, Roche, Tide, and more. In 2024, annual recurring revenue reached $22 million.

Gravitee has around 130 employees and is expected to finish the year with around 200 people.

5:45am Pacific: The original version of this article incorrectly stated that Gravitee has around 130 customers. In fact, there are around 130 employees. I regret the error.
