Openai’s ChatGpt may be the most popular chatbot app in the world. However, data from Analytics Firms Simorweb and Sensor Tower shows that rival services have won.

Estimating traffic to websites including Chatbot web apps, Simarweb records the recent healthy increase used across bots, such as Google’s Gemini and Microsoft’s Openai-powered copilot. Gemini’s web traffic rose to an average of 10 million visits a day worldwide in March, up 7.4% for the month, while daily visits to Copilot increased to 2.4 million. This has increased by 2.1% since February.

Sirseweb reports that Claude of Humanity averaged 3.3 million visits per day in March, and that chatbots at the Chinese AI Lab Deepseek visited 16.5 million that month. Meanwhile, Xai’s Grok, who acquired the web app a few months ago, averaged 106.5 million daily web visits as many as Deepseek’s chatbots.

The numbers are pale compared to ChatGpt, which has surged after 500 million weeks of active users in late March. However, David Carr, editor of Sisirweb, said no. He said there is fierce competition in the chatbot spots in 2.

“[F]Or, in March, Deepseek came in second despite seeing traffic drop 25% from its February location based on daily visits,” Carr told TechCrunch.

AI Companies’ mobile chatbot app is also expanding its user base. It is probably driven by recent AI model releases.

According to metrics from the App Data Analysis Company Sensor Tower, Claude App saw a 21% increase in weekly active users during the week of February 24th, when it released its latest flagship AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet. Just after Google became popular with the Gemini 2.0 Flash model, two weeks ago, the number of Active users of Gemini App increased by 42%.

Senior Insights analyst at Sensor Tower, Abraham Yousef believes Rising Tides is due not only to new models but also to new features. In just the last month, Google brought “Canvas” functionality to Gemini, allowing users to preview the output of their coding projects, and Anthropic has steadily added tools to its Claude client.

“The deployment of popular new AI models, increased consumer interest in the space, the introduction of a variety of new features and features, and the growing number of unique use cases have driven the growth of AI chatbot app users.”

But Openai probably isn’t panicking yet. Yousef noted that as of March, ChatGpt has 10 times more active weekly users of mobile apps, compared to Gemini and Claude.
