A study from the Pew Research Center found that the views of Americans Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg were more negatively skewed than positive.

Zuckerberg sparked chatter in Silicon Valley with a sudden interest in fashion, but Meta’s CEO is less popular than President Trump’s right-hand man, Elon Musk, the report found. Approximately 54% of US adults say they have an unfavourable view of Musk, while 67% feel negative about Zuckerberg.

The two tech executives have been exposed to increased scrutiny since the start of President Trump’s second term. Both sat with the president at the inauguration ceremony and donated to his inauguration fund. Zuckerberg has overturned long-standing metacontent moderation policies to limit fact-checking and behaviour over hate speech, but Musk has played a key role in Trump’s camp up until now.

Throughout President Trump’s first month, Musk has been directly involved in the US government’s business using political ties with the Gat government sector, such as USAID, which provides humanitarian assistance around the world. Meanwhile, the masked dog exaggerated the impact of the multi-billion-dollar budget cuts on Monday.

Given Musk’s affiliation with Trump, 85% of respondents with Democrats or Lean Democrats holding Tesla CEO’s unfavourable views are following party policy. Meanwhile, 73% of Republican or Republican respondents felt favorable to Musk.

But Facebook founder Zuckerberg is drawing more rage from the left-leaning demographic, but is more universally hated. 60% of respondents who are leaning towards Republicans and Republicans have a disadvantage with Zuckerberg, while 76% of Democrat counterparts share that sentiment.

So, Zach may be playing the role of a cool guy, but the Americans aren’t fooled by his gold chains and musical ambitions.

Pew’s study included a panel of 5,086 randomly selected US adults. The survey was conducted between January 27, 2025 and February 2, 2025, so these responses reflect the recent opinions of people.
