
On Monday, Microsoft announced a new feature called Inline Data Protection for enterprise-centric Edge for business web browsers.
Native Data Security Controls are designed to prevent employees from sharing sensitive corporate-related data into a consumer-generated Artificial Intelligence (GENAI) app to Openai ChatGpt, Google Gemini, Deepseek, and more. This list expands over time to include other Genai, email, collaboration and social media apps.

Microsoft Purview Browser Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls are born from the announcement of the general availability of Microsoft teams’ collaboration security to tackle phishing attacks on users of enterprise communications apps.
Over the past few months, threat actors such as the Storm-1674 and Storm-1811 have used Microsoft teams as conduits to allow unsuspecting users to download malicious software or allow remote access to subsequent ransomware deployments.

“Suspicious files and URLs run automatically in a safe, isolated environment (sandbox) to determine whether they exhibit malicious behavior,” Microsoft said. “This process known as a real-time explosion ensures that harmful content is identified and neutralised before end users can access it.”
In line with these announcements, Redmond said it is expanding its security personnel with five new agent solutions to analyze data breaches, prioritize critical alerts, perform root cause analysis and improve compliance.
The Microsoft-developed Security Co-pilot Agent will be available for preview next month and will curate phishing alerts, data loss prevention, insider risk notifications, monitoring for vulnerabilities and remediation, and threat intelligence based on organizational threat exposure.
