Microsoft said on Saturday that clients on the Azure cloud platform could experience an increase in potential after multiple submarine cables have been cut in the Red Sea, as reported in Bloomberg.

With the status update, the company said traffic passing through the Middle East and ending in Asia and Europe was affected. He didn’t say who cut the cable or why.

“Cutting subsea fibers can take time to repair, so we will continuously monitor, rebalance and optimize our routing to reduce customer impact during that time,” the status update states.

By Saturday evening, Microsoft said it had stopped detecting Azure issues. However, it appears that Azure is not the only service affected, as NetBlocks reports that “sequential submarine cable outages in the Red Sea have degraded internet connectivity in multiple countries,” including India and Pakistan.

Yemeni Houthi rebels had previously rejected attack cables as part of a campaign to put pressure on Israel, according to the Associated Press.

This post has been updated in additional context regarding the affected countries and Houthi denial.
