Tuesday’s Opera revealed a new browser called Opera Neon, focusing on AI workflows and performing tasks on your behalf, including shopping, filling out forms, coding.

The browser is currently behind the waitlist, but the company said it needs to subscribe to use once a user releases. Price details have not been revealed.

In particular, the Opera Neon browser features three new buttons in the sidebar. Chat, Do, Make. Chat searches the web, gets answers to queries, and presents a chatbot interface for details on the web pages you are viewing.

DO uses the company’s browser operator AI agent, announced in March. This AI agent is likely to be able to perform tasks such as filling out forms and processing travel bookings locally in your browser.

The Make option is also worth noting, as Opera says that you can use text prompts to create games, websites, code snippets, reports, and more. The company said that AI workflows that enable this feature run through virtual machines in the cloud, allowing Neon to work on tasks even when they go offline, allowing users to perform multiple tasks at the same time.

All this sounds great on paper, but such AI apps often don’t perform as much as they are said to. Moreover, Opera is not the only company working on AI agents for browsers. Browser companies have messed around with AI-powered browsers that aim to get agents to do something for you.
