Ten years after his death, Prince continues his reign with a new album filled with previously unreleased recordings released by his estate.
The 10-song set, set to be released on August 28th, includes the 1995 recording ‘Stone’ from the archives, which is now available to stream. The tracklist spans from 1977 to 2016, marking the first time that a collection of Prince’s songs has been carefully selected to include every iconic phase of his singular career. The album also includes the 1991 recording “With This Tear,” which was released by the Purple One estate in April prior to the album’s release.
“‘Timeless’ traces Prince’s remarkable artistic evolution over nearly four decades, from his earliest studio recordings as a teenage prodigy in Minneapolis to his last recorded performance,” the press release reads. “This collection demonstrates the extraordinary consistency, curiosity and creative ambition that defined his work throughout his life, and provides fans with a rare opportunity to hear previously unheard chapters of his creative journey.”
In addition to DSP, physical copies of Timeless, also available in August, will also be available for purchase, including D2C exclusive limited edition purple marble vinyl, standard black vinyl, and CD. But Minneapolis fans don’t have to wait until then to sample the album, as an exclusive listening session will be offered at this year’s annual Prince Celebration, June 3-7 at Paisley Park and Downtown.
