Replica Microsoft and partners with a blow to Google Cloud

On Tuesday, Replette announced a strategic partnership agreement with Microsoft.

Replit will be available through Microsoft’s Enterprise Cloud App Store and Azure Marketplace. This means that Microsoft Shop will be able to purchase replica subscriptions. Replit integrates numerous Microsoft cloud services, including containers called Neon Serverless Postgres, virtual machines, and numerous Microsoft Cloud Services, such as Microsoft’s version of Postgres. In other words, Azure should generate a share of revenue from replica apps used for production.

Microsoft is well known for offering the highly popular Vibe Coder on Github Copilot, but Replit doesn’t compete much as it targets different users and slightly different use cases.

Copilot conflicts with Anysphere cursors as an AI-powered in-browser coding assistant used by programmers. Replicas are popular with programmers, but can also be used by people with little experience in coding. The user creates a web app through a natural language prompt, and Replit sets up databases, authentication, storage, and more. Those with programming experiences can customize functionality directly, as replicas support many programming languages.

In this case, the two companies are marketing this product as a prototyping/design tool, just like their Figma competitors. The company also aims to be a non-program business manager for its own apps in builds. For example, sales managers can use it to build tools to track the correlation between contract renewals and customer support tickets.

“We complement Copilot from that perspective because we allow all employees of every feature to develop the app regardless of the coding experience,” a Replit spokesman told TechCrunch.

Replica is also one of the breakout stars in the vibe coding world. In June, CEO Amjad Masad tweeted six months later that the company had earned an annual revenue of $10 million to $100 million.

Finally, it raised $97.4 million. Leading by Andreessen Horowitz, participation from Khosla, Cotue, SV Angel, Y Combinator, Bloomberg Beta, Naval Ravikant and Ark Ventures was valued after $1.1 billion. Masad said in June that he has no need to raise since “more than half of the funds are in the bank.” The startup claims that over 500,000 business users are on the platform

According to the CEO, Replit is reportedly in the process of raising a new round at a valuation of around $2 billion, competing with several other fast-growing startups, including their European beloved figures that reached $50 million in the same period, and rose to about $40 million in about five months.

If you have a competitor taking L from this partnership, it’s Google Cloud. Apps built and run through replicas are usually hosted on Google Cloud. In fact, Replit is Google’s cap feather, with the Cloud giants introducing the partnership.

However, this transaction is an existing one and has been confirmed with TechCrunch. In other words, startups have not left Google Cloud, but are growing to support Microsoft stores. It also means that other popular vibe coders can hit Microsoft deals similar.
