Sources who spoke to the New York Times reportedly increased drug use during the 2024 presidential election, when Elon Musk contributed roughly $270 million to help the election of Donald Trump.

The Times reported that over the last year his drug consumption exceeded recreational use. He reportedly carried a 20 tablet box. Sources told the outlet that his ketamine use was so rampant that it affected the bladder.

The use of drugs such as ketamine, psychedelic mushrooms and ecstasy is well documented and reportedly is a source of concern for executives of many companies he operates, including Tesla and SpaceX. The latter is a large government contractor and needs to maintain a drug-free workplace. The Times Report claims that Musk received advanced notifications for drug testing.

It is not clear whether his volatile behavior is directly correlated with his reported drug acquisition, like scorning members of the cabinet, giving Nazi salutes, making revenue calls and other events.

The report also details how Musk’s increasing embrace of right-wing politics coincided with family troubles, like custody with the 5-year-old son known as X.

Musk announced this week that he will finish his mission with the government and return from politics to focus on his business. He is scheduled to hold a joint press conference with President Trump on Friday afternoon.
