Shopify defeated Kanye’s Swastika T-shirt shop, but another anti-Semitic store is still running

Shopify has removed Kanye West’s online store after musicians sold t-shirts under the Swastika symbol.

So did West, West promoted its online store in a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday, directing viewers to his website.

Shopify last year removed a policy that prohibits sellers from hosting “hate content,” but the e-commerce giant removed Ye’s store after Super Bowl ads appeared on Tuesday. According to an internal memo seen in Canadian technology publication The Logic, Shopify reportedly closed its storefronts, not because it sold Nazi T-shirts because of the potential scam.

“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of the platform. This merchant has not engaged in genuine commercial practices and has violated the terms and has removed them from Shopify,” the company told TechCrunch in a statement.

Within the past week, he created several anti-Semitic posts for X, proudly declaring that he is a Nazi and “doesn’t like or trust Jews.” He praised Adolf Hitler, writing that he “thanks Elon for allowing me to ventilate” before his account was deleted.

TechCrunch asked X if YE had deleted the account itself or if it was deleted by the platform. X did not comment.

However, X sets precedents that denials of the Holocaust, praise from Hitler, and Nazi support are permitted on the platform. TechCrunch praised Auschwitz Death Camps using Shopify and found an example of an X creator with 200,000 followers selling products that support Holocaust denialism.

Shopify has removed your sw products, but other anti-Semitic stores will remain on the platform. Shopify did not return a TechCrunch request for comment on why the shop was allowed to remain.
