Snapchat throws out plans for a simplified version of that app

As part of its first quarter revenue release, Snap said it is a plan to dispose of a simplified version of its app.

This news comes seven months after Snapchat begins testing versions of the redesigned app without a snapshot or story tab. This new version has integrated the app’s navigation bar around three icons: Chat, Camera, Snapchat’s Tiktok rival and Spotlight.

Instead of continuing to test the simplified version, social networks are now starting to experiment with a “sleek 5-tab interface” that keeps existing tabs in all apps and makes spotlights easier to access.

“We learned a lot from the redesign in terms of simple Snapchat designs, but in the end we found that we were able to really adopt the 3-tab design, especially for power users, people who really love the way Snapchat really uses maps and stories. “So, in the end, we’ve taken a lot of learning from simple Snapchat designs on three tabs and evolved the 5-tab design with those learning.”

The company says it has found that the more prominent spotlight experience and integration of friends’ stories in the chat has significantly improved daily content audiences and overall views on content, especially among casual users.

“Our most enthusiastic Snapchatters consistently demonstrate their preference for a five-tab layout, supporting the familiarity of tile-based content discovery and dedicated map tabs,” Snap said in a letter to investors. “Informing these insights, we have begun testing a sophisticated five-tab interface that combines both approaches, bringing more stories to the messaging experience and adding easier access to the spotlight.

The reversal comes as a SNAP share that lost 1 million users in North America in the first quarter. According to a shareholder letter from Snap, North American Snapchat Daus (daily active users) were 99 million, compared to 100 million the previous year and 100 million the previous year.

The company also saw that the number of daily active users of my AI in the US increased by more than 55% year-on-year as Spiegel made fun of several AI-related announcements to come later this year.

“When we look at the areas we really want to differentiate ourselves, it’s really around that visual communication,” he said. “And when I see how people interact with my AI, I see it by sending snaps and receiving snaps and chat responses. I think these multimodal models are beginning to show how these multimodal models can play a powerful role in people’s lives. Announcements later this year.”

SNAP reported first-quarter revenue of $1.36 billion, up 14% year-on-year. The company says the rise was driven by the growth of Snapchat+ subscription services and the progress they made in advertising solutions.

SNAP has also reached a new milestone. Over 900 Mauss (monthly active users) worldwide. Furthermore, social network Daus has grown to 460 million people worldwide, an increase of 38 million people from the previous year.
