Aethir, a provider of decentralized cloud gaming infrastructure, is featured in a newly released case study by Superscale, a global expert in gaming user acquisition. This study provides a detailed analysis of how Aethir’s cloud streaming technology enhances game studio user acquisition strategies, and presents a scalable alternative to traditional App Store distribution.
Cloud streaming as a direct solution from consumers
Game studios often face high service charges when distributing games on some platforms that make up to 30% of game revenue. Aethir’s distributed cloud infrastructure allows studios to take advantage of web-based streaming to avoid these costs and provide an independent publishing model designed to enhance user acquisition.
Here are some key aspects of Aethir’s cloud streaming:
Reduced dependency on app stores – Web-based streaming eliminates the need for downloading the App Store and allows publishers to retain more revenue. Reduce User Acquisition Costs – Instant play with social media and ads reduces friction in the user’s journey and improves conversion rates. Enhanced Device Accessibility – Games can be played on PC, mobile devices and smart TVs without hardware restrictions. Alternative monetization model – subscription-based access, direct microtransactions, and in-game purchases can be managed independently of third-party platform fees.
Insights from SuperScale Case Study
SuperScale conducted a two-phase analysis to assess the impact of AETHIR on game user acquisition, focusing on conversion rates and AD spending returns (ROA). A small tower of mobile games was selected as subjects.
Phase 1: Conversion rate analysis
SuperScale has looked at different engagement methods (user acquisition metrics, especially cost per install (CPI) and engagement rates) such as “Stream Now”, “Instant Play”, and “Download”.
Findings from Phase 1:
43% of players chose instant play over direct downloads. Click-through rate (CTR) has increased by 35% compared to traditional download methods. The conversion rate for streaming options was 45% higher.
Phase 2: Roas and User Engagement
Phase 2 measured early engagement and RoAS by comparing user behavior between App Store downloads and Aethir’s Stream Now feature.
Findings from Phase 2:
Compared to direct downloads, there is a 143% increase in users currently working in the streaming feature. Loin on day 7 increased by 75%. Average revenue per user (ARPU) has now increased by 93% in streams. Session counts increased by 77% on average. The session duration was 26% longer. Daily retention rates improved by 60%, while day seven-day retention increased by 80%.
Aethir’s cloud streaming potential applications
Aethir’s cloud streaming infrastructure may be particularly beneficial.
An established publisher seeking to drive direct traffic and optimize revenue models. Live services and MMO games that require seamless cross-device access. A game with social and viral appeal that instant playability improves influencer-driven marketing strategies. An emerging market where cloud streaming provides solutions to users without high-end gaming hardware.
The SuperScale findings highlight Aethir’s role in enhancing game user acquisition through distributed cloud streaming. A complete investigation is available on the Aethir website.
