Uber customers can now earn Delta Ski Miles from rides and delivery

Members of Delta Skymiles in the US can earn points when riding Uber or earning order delivery via Uber Eats as part of a recently announced exclusive partnership between the two companies.

The partnership with Delta is designed to align the riding giant with more airport travel. This has historically been a lucrative segment for Uber. The ride company also announced Tuesday plans to expand its new, affordable airport shuttle products to Atlanta after a successful launch in New York City.

Uber’s airports come when many Americans are now recouping travel expenses this year due to market uncertainty, reduced consumer confidence and increased border surveys.

Perhaps such uncertainty means that now more price-savvy customers than ever before have to find a way to game their systems. Uber customers who join the WaitList can link their accounts starting Tuesday, and everyone else can start on Thursday.

Here’s how Uber users with a Delta Skymiles membership can earn miles when they link their accounts:

Uber Eats: 1 mile per dollar spent on orders over $40. Airport rides: 1 mile per mile spent on Uberx rides to and from the airport. Premium Ride: 2 miles per dollar spent on Uber Comfort or Uber Black. Uber Reserve: 3 miles per dollar spent on pre-booked Ubers.

While Uber riders can’t accumulate miles by riding the airport, an Uber spokesperson said they get Skimir from trips that bring the best rewards.

Aside from the ability to earn miles, Uber and Delta are integrated in other ways. Customers who purchase flights using the Fly Delta app can work on booking Uber Reserve and travel to and from the airport. And later this year, Skymiles members logging in to WiFi on their flights will receive a 30% off offer to book Uber for pickups when they land.
