Apple has introduced new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models with an M3 chip. The new iPad Air is available for pre-order starting Tuesday and will be available on March 12th.

The device starts at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model. Available in four colors: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configuration: blue, purple, starlight, and space gray.

The new iPad Air supports Apple Intelligence, but Apple’s latest chip is not the M4. However, according to Apple, the M3’s iPad Air is almost twice as high as the M1’s iPad Air, and up to 3.5 times faster than the A14 Bionic iPad Air.

It’s worth noting that Apple shares comparisons with older iPad models, rather than the iPad Air with the M2 chip that Apple launched last year.

Apple also introduces an updated magic keyboard with a larger trackpad and a new row of 14 key functions that allow easy access to features such as screen brightness and volume control. Magneticly mounted, the smart connector quickly connects power and data without the need for Bluetooth. Additionally, there is a machined aluminum hinge and a USB-C connector for charging.

The new Magic Keyboard starts at $269 for the 11-inch model and $319 for the 13-inch model. It comes in white.

According to Apple, the M3’s iPad Air is up to 35% faster in a multi-threaded CPU workflow than the M1’s iPad Air. It also features a 9-core GPU with up to 40% graphics performance than the M1.

Furthermore, according to Apple, the M3’s nerve engine is up to 60% faster on AI-based workloads when compared to the M1.

Tech Giant also points out that it updated its iPad with double the starting storage and an A16 chip. This will jump performance for everyday tasks. The new iPad on the A16 is almost 30% faster than the previous generation. According to Apple, users say the overall performance is 50% better than the A13 Bionic iPad. The company also claims that the A16 chip is up to six times faster than the bestselling Android tablets.

“For everyone, from college students taking notes on the Apple Pencil Pro to travelers and content creators who get strong productivity on the go, with M3, Apple Intelligence and the New Magic Keyboard gaining versatility and value to the next level.”
