Health officials say at least 62 people have been killed in a day as tens of thousands face forced evacuation under the latest Israeli orders.
New Israeli artillery fires across the Gaza Strip killed dozens of Palestinians, including children, as Israeli forces issued new rounds of forced evacuation orders across the besieged territory.
In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Gaza’s health ministry said at least 62 people have been killed in Israeli attacks during the past 24 hours of reporting period. At least 23 people, including seven children, were killed in the overnight attack, according to medical sources.
Reports from Deia Elbara in central Gaza, Khoudary behind Al Jazeera said various areas of the strip were under heavy artillery fire and air attacks.
In southern Gaza, at least five Palestinians were killed in the attacks, attacking two tents protecting Khan Eunice’s displaced people, she said. In the northern regions, including Gaza City and Jabaria, eight other Palestinians were killed in attacks on Breage homes in central Gaza. In Beit Rahiya in the north, Israeli attacks killed at least three Palestinians, including a three-year-old girl.
“There have been continuous airstrikes in civilian homes and places where Palestinians are evacuated,” Khoudary said.
After the latest attacks, Hamas issued a statement denounced the “terrifying massacre” and urged the international community to hold back Israel last week.
The Israeli military has killed 792 people, including hundreds of children, and injured 1,663 people, since renewing artillery fires in Gaza on March 18, according to the Ministry of Health.
Amidst the complete aid lockdown, tens of thousands of people were forced to flee again, weeks after returning after the start of the January 19 ceasefire.
In its latest forced evacuation order on Tuesday, Israeli forces warned of new attacks at Jabaria, Beit Rahiya, Beit Hanoon and Shujayaia in Gaza city, saying the Rockets were fired from the north towards Israel. Other orders were also issued to Kahn Eunice and Rafa in the south.
“Sleeping children”
Many aid groups and UN agencies have long said that there are no safe areas in Gaza, as Israel-designated “humanitarian zones” and shelters are under Israeli attack.
International charities saved their children on Tuesday, called the “death sentence” of children in besieged in Gaza reopening the war.
“Children are killed while they are sleeping in their tents. They are starved and attacked. The only way to ensure that their children and their families are protected is through a decisive ceasefire.”
According to the Ministry of Health, the Israeli attacks for nearly 18 months have killed more than 50,000 people and injured around 113,000, but thousands more have been missing under the tiled bleed of the destroyed building, and are estimated to be dead. The Israeli War began after a Hamas-led attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing an estimated 1,139 people and about 250 were taken prisoner.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the new attack aims to pressure Hamas to release the remaining 59 prisoners detained in Gaza. Of these, about 24 are thought to be still alive.
Hamas says he hopes to comply with what Israel agreed when signing a ceasefire in January, including holding consultations to end the war forever in exchange for the release of the remaining prisoners of war.
