Amazon hopes businesses will use Q Business Assistant to build public-facing chatbots.

On Wednesday, the company announced that Q Business, an AI assistant for AWS hosts, who can answer questions, provide summary and complete tasks, will support anonymous user access. This means that AWS users can create Q business chatbots for their websites, support portals, and more to help customers search for documents, complete self-service requests, and more.

“This feature allows guest users to quickly find product information, get technical answers, navigate documentation, and troubleshoot issues using the Amazon Q Business Generic AI feature,” explains Amazon in a blog post. “This new feature allows you to create Amazon Q Business applications in anonymous user mode. No user authentication is required and it is published to content.”

Customers configure Q Business Chatbots to ingest support documents or other content to ground responses to bot queries. Q business applications with anonymous access are billed to a consumption-based pricing model, Amazon says.

Amazon launched Q Business two years ago at AWS Re: Invent Conference. Since then, the company has rebranded Q and introduced “agent” features, including the ability for Q business to perform tasks on behalf of users across third-party applications.

Amazon believes AI is increasingly at the heart of its overall growth strategy. CEO Andy Jassy recently said the company has built over 1,000 generative AI applications, and Amazon’s AI revenues have risen by a “triple digit” percentage year over year, representing “annual return rate of several million dollars.”
