Artificial intelligence is not just about infiltrating the world of startups. Currently, the credit card giant Visa and Mastercard are in the AI game. Visa announced “Intelligent Commerce” on Wednesday. This allows AI to “find and buy.”

AI agents can shop and purchase on behalf of consumers based on pre-selected preferences.

In a statement, Jack Forestell, Visa’s Chief Products and Strategy Director, said: “Each consumer sets limits and Visa helps manage the rest.”

According to Visa, it works with the combination of tech giants and startups to develop a shopping experience powered by AI that is “more personal, safer and more convenient.” These companies include Humanity, IBM, Microsoft, Mistral AI, Openai, Perplexity, Samsung, Stripe, and more.

The move will provide AI agents with the ability to shop online for consumers following the MasterCard announcement on Tuesday. MasterCard said that its new agent’s payment offering “enhances generative AI conversations for people and businesses” by integrating payments into customized recommendations and insights already offered on the conversation platform.

In a statement, “This means actively curating the selection of costumes and accessories from local boutiques and online resailors to chat with AI agents to quickly plan a 30-year-old milestone birthday party. Certifications.”

MasterCard said that he will work with Microsoft on new use cases, not just IBM, Braintree and Checkout.com on other aspects of AI-powered shopping, but also “Agent Commerce” as well as “Agent Commerce”.

Visa and MasterCard are not the only ones that allow AI-powered shopping. On Tuesday, PayPal announced its own Agent Commerce Offering.

And earlier this month, Amazon announced the launch of testing a new AI shopping agent called “Buy For Me” using a subset of users. Openai, Google and Perplexity also showcase similar agents that can help users access their websites and make purchases. Openai said Monday that it could update CHATGPT Search, CHATGPT web search tool, to improve the online shopping experience for users.
