PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan court said Tuesday that it would not accept appeals from school shooters sentenced to life in prison in 2023. Kill 4 students And hurt others.

The Court of Appeal declined Ethan Crumbley’s application “due to lack of merit on the basis presented.”

Crumbie pleaded guilty to the 2021 Oxford High School shooting. After he received the rare parol sentence, the new legal team asked the judge to put aside the terminology of life and to retract Crumbie’s guilty plea.

Oakland County Judge Kwame Lowe said no. He said Crumbie’s plea was “deliberately, voluntarily, and accurately given.”

Crumbly, now 19, was 15 when he committed mass shootings on November 30, 2021. That day, his parents were summoned to discuss violent drawings and painful phrases written on mathematical tasks. They hadn’t taken him home and no one checked his backpack for a gun.

Crumby’s appeals lawyers argue that his brain development is likely reduced by his mother’s alcohol use. However, prosecutors pointed out that the fetal alcohol spectrum disorder was not raised by a psychologist who testified on behalf of Crumbie at the sentencing stage.

His parents, James and Jennifer Crumby Serving a 10-year prison term For unwilling crimes of manslaughter. They were accused of making guns accessible at home and not predicting mass shooting would be possible.
