US President Donald Trump issued another extension to determine Tiktok’s fate, pushing for 90 days, the White House said Tuesday. The current extension, signed in April, was set to expire on Thursday, June 19th.
“President Trump will sign additional executive orders this week to get Tiktok to run,” White House press chief Karolyn Leavitt said in a statement on CBS News.
“As he said many times, President Trump doesn’t want to darken Tiktok. This extension will last for 90 days. The administration will work to close this deal so that Americans can continue to use Tiktok with assurances that data is safe and secure,” she added.
In January, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law to ban Tiktok, resulting in the app store and service provider signing an executive order to pull out support for US apps a few days after taking office and delay the ban to explore contracts with deadlines to sell US businesses. On April 4th, he issued another 75-day extension to keep the short video app up and running.
