Amazon is enhancing the Ring smart doorbell with new features such as a new fire alarm, app store, and a new set of Ring sensors.

Announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the company said its new ring sensor can detect movement, openings, broken glass and smoke, as well as monitor carbon monoxide levels, leaks, temperature changes and air quality. You can also control lights and appliances connected to your smart home network.

Amazon also plans to add a new app store to the Ring app so users can use their cameras with third-party apps. The store is currently only available in the US, and users will be able to browse a selection of apps in the coming weeks. The company didn’t say what types of apps the store would feature, but said the apps would be focused on small business operations and everyday needs at home.

Additionally, as fires become more common in drought-affected areas, the company is working with fire monitoring app Watch Duty to display real-time updates and early warnings in the “Neighbors” section of the Ring app. Users can also share live updates of this section using the Ring camera.

Notably, new devices being launched will support Amazon’s Sidewalk shared network feature. The feature creates a mesh network between the company’s Echo and Ring devices by sharing a small portion of their bandwidth, allowing the devices to operate even when they’re not within wireless range of a Wi-Fi router.

Amazon is also adding new AI-based features to Ring cameras that learn a facility’s daily patterns and alert users when anomalies occur. Dubbed AI Anomaly Event Alert, the feature allows Ring cameras to display specific alerts when they detect a person based on location, behavior, or clothing, the company said.

For customers who subscribe to Amazon’s Virtual Security Guard service, these alerts can trigger automatic intervention. Last month, the company rolled out the ability to use video recognition to trigger Alexa responses and send personalized notifications based on a database of 50 faces.
