TikTok has secretly added a secret emoji game that can be accessed via DM. The goal of the game is simple. Use your fingers to jump as high as you can between the crocodiles. Be careful and avoid the skeleton crocodiles. The broken crocodile will disappear after one landing, so you must quickly bounce back to the crocodile above.

Guiding a floating emoji to jump will increase your speed and help you climb faster. The same thing happens when you land on a crocodile with a propeller attached. If you fail to land on the crocodile or the skeleton, the game is over. The object of the game is to bounce higher than your opponent. While playing, both your score and your opponent’s high score are displayed in the top right corner.

TikTok told TechCrunch on Tuesday that the game is available worldwide and can be accessed through both one-on-one DMs and group chats.

To access the game, send an emoji in chat and click on it to enter the game. The emoji you click is the same one that appears on your screen to cheer you up. You can use any emoji you like, but you can only access the game by sending one emoji at a time.

TikTok says it launched this Easter egg to make messaging more fun and add a playful element of competition to DMs on the platform.

With this launch, TikTok is taking a page out of Instagram’s book. Instagram introduced its own hidden emoji DM game two years ago, and TikTok’s version follows a similar concept. In Instagram’s version, players use their fingers to move the paddle to keep the emoji bouncing, and the game ends when the emoji falls.

TikTok isn’t the only social media platform experimenting with the DM game. Meta confirmed to TechCrunch in January that Threads was exploring the game in chat. Internally, the company is prototyping a basketball game that would allow users to virtually shoot hoops with a swipe of a finger.
