Tesla is rolling out a new self-driving app that makes it easy for owners to subscribe to its fully self-driving software and see statistics about how and how often they use it. The app displays information about the FSD, including multi-day streaks, adding a gamified element to driver assistance software.
In its post about X, the company teased a redesigned self-driving app and a number of other new features that will be included in its next major software update.
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is an advanced driver assistance system that began in beta at the end of 2020 and has been regularly updated to remove bugs and improve reliability and performance. The system is available for a $99 monthly subscription and can handle driving maneuvers such as steering, lane changes, and parking. Active driver supervision is still required, meaning that vehicles equipped with the software are not truly self-driving.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is trying to position Tesla as an AI and robotics powerhouse rather than just a carmaker. FSD is part of that mission. Achieving “10 million active FSD subscriptions” by 2035 is one of Musk’s key “product goals” to receive the full amount of his new $1 trillion salary package.
While the redesigned self-driving app may not seem important to Tesla’s efforts to drive adoption of FSD, it does have some importance. Currently, Tesla owners can subscribe to FSD using their vehicle’s touchscreen or mobile app, but getting to the right place requires a few steps.
The new app allows owners to subscribe with one tap. One thing to note is that this feature is only available to owners of Tesla vehicles equipped with the A14 chip, also known as FSD Hardware 4.0, which started appearing in vehicles in January 2023.

The updated self-driving app will display a variety of statistics that go far beyond what Tesla owners with FSD see today. Current FSD subscribers will see their total miles driven compared to the percentage driven using FSD.
This updated app displays several graphics, including a bar chart of FSD usage. It also tracks and displays a user’s “streak”, showing how many consecutive days the FSD has been used.
FSD (supervised) is available in Australia, Canada, China, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and the United States. Dutch regulator RDW approved FSD for use on April 10 after investigating and testing the product.
