Cybersecurity company Trellix has announced that it has suffered a breach that allowed unauthorized access to “portions” of its source code.

The company said it had “recently identified” a breach of its source code repository and had begun working with “leading forensic experts” to immediately resolve the issue. He also said he had reported the matter to law enforcement.

Trellix did not disclose the exact nature of the data the attackers may have accessed. However, it pointed out that there is no evidence that the source code has been affected or misused.

“Based on our investigation to date, we have found no evidence that the source code release or distribution process was affected or that the source code was misused,” the company added.

The company did not provide details about who was behind the incident or how long the attacker had access to its systems. Trellix said additional information will be shared as needed once the investigation is complete.

Trellix, owned by Symphony Technology Group, was formed in January 2022 following the merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye. Around the same time, FireEye-owned Mandiant was acquired by Google in a deal worth $5.4 billion.

Hacker News has reached out to Trellix for comment and will update the article if we hear back.

(This is a developing story. Check back for more details.)
