Beauty went back to basics at the 2026 Gotham TV Awards held in New York City on Monday night. There, big stars, producers, writers, and entertainment industry figures gathered outside Cipriani Wall Street to transpose Old Hollywood glamor into quasi-street style hair and makeup in the form of everyday coquette hairstyles, natural textures, and bare but defined lips.

After a steady decline over the past few years, coquettecore finally seems to be back on the upswing – this time with a softer, more subtle approach. Sennott, who won the Breakthrough Comedy Series Award for “I Love L.A.,” sported a modern take on Monday night with her bangs combed back and a flat black satin ribbon cut back toward the top of her head. The hairstyle, styled by Sami Knight, is reminiscent of early 2000s trends seen on Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and the rest of the Disney Channel gang.
Elsewhere on the carpet, Brittany Snow played with a powder blue bow, her blonde hair tied back in a loose pony à la Gwyneth Paltrow. The resulting aesthetic wasn’t the performative coquette core that boomed in 2022 and 2023, where women weave ribbons through braids over Peter Pan collars.

Curl love has been on the rise for a while now, and last night’s red carpet proves it’s only going from strength to strength. Infinity, who is one of the next generation leaders in the curl revival and won this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award, tapped her trusted stylist Cory Moreno on Monday night to help define and control her curls using the Latina-owned hair care brand Rizos Curls. “The goal was to create a soft, elongated curl pattern with volume, shine, and movement while maintaining Chase’s natural texture,” Moreno said in an official statement.
Washington, who accepted the spotlight tribute, sported a similar hairstyle, embracing her own coils with the help of celebrity stylist and Curl Queen founder Naivasha. Naivasha parted Washington’s hair down the middle and slicked the ends, keeping the texture and shape intact.

Nina Park’s contoured lip technique has quickly become this year’s trend, with everyone from Emma Stone to Zoe Kravitz wearing versions of it on the carpet. At Monday night’s gathering, Pigeon, Lili Reinhart and Odessa Azion embraced the over-the-top aesthetic with taupe tones. The finished look is similar to an after-meal lip liner, highlighting the shape of your mouth without the harsh lines of the raw product.
