Micro bangs are more science than art, and are precisely trimmed between the hairline and the brow.

Greta Lee opted for a mid-length fringe at the Toy Story 5 launch event in London on Thursday, celebrating the film’s long-awaited release on June 19 with castmates Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) and Joan Cusack (Jesse).

Outside the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Lee’s freshly cut bangs, cut and styled by Jenny Cho, rested about an inch above his chiseled eyebrows. The rest of her hair was kept straight, with ink-colored ends running halfway down her back.

Bangs may be a new addition to her modern look, but this wasn’t the first time Lee sported a trendy haircut. In fact, the “Past Life” actress has sported several styles, shapes, and silhouettes over the years, but always returns to a mid-length cut before laying down her bangs for a few months. Her most notable flashy display came at the 2024 Met Gala, which celebrated “Sleeping Beauty: Fashion’s Awakening.” Here she took an 80s-inspired rough-cut approach, pairing it with a pixie cut with an uneven fringe that just barely goes past the hairline.

This was something of a precursor to a trend on the same carpet a year later, led by Pamela Anderson, Ayo Edebiri, Zoe SaldaƱa, and more. Since then, microbangs have climbed the viral ladder and found their place on nearly every major red carpet last year. Interest in the “bang and bob” duo has also grown, thanks to Anderson and Edebiri, who have regularly returned to the sophisticated forms of irredeemable movie stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood.

In an interview with WWD in April, Moroccanoil stylist ambassador Owen Gould may have ruled out microbangs from his summer hair predictions, but he gave his vote to “vixie.” It’s a cut you see and hear in Hollywood: a little bob, a little pixie. “It’s sophisticated but feels lived-in. It’s like a chic awakening,” Gould said.

Paired with white pointed-toe pumps, the dress featured a scattering of shooting stars and red fringe along the hemline trim.
