America’s Sweetheart: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (Season 3), Netflix

The reality series that brought back America’s most famous cheerleaders is returning for a third season with a twist. This is the first year this documentary has been filmed since streaming began. This means competition is fiercer than ever, as girls from all over the world take part in tryouts and try to prove they have what it takes to wear the prestigious uniform.

Meanwhile, the series has spent ample time this season focusing on the toll being in the public eye is taking on existing team members, from online haters to levels of fame they weren’t prepared for. It’s the same emotional and moving story as the first two seasons, but with added pressure.

Sugar (Season 2), Apple TV+

Few expected the neo-noir cop drama to take a sci-fi twist in Season 1, much less that it would return for Season 2. But here private investigator John Sugar (Colin Farrell) is back. It’s hard to predict where this series will go next.

For now, the new movie begins with Sugar working on a new case in Los Angeles. The story will also be helmed by a new cast and new showrunner Sam Catlin. While you may not have fully understood the aforementioned twist, the good news is that this season fully embraces it while delivering the same level of strong performances and beautifully shot cinematography.

House of the Dragon (Season 3), Crave

The penultimate season of this Game of Thrones prequel will be streaming this weekend, complete with lots of blonde wigs and CGI dragons. Whether you’re still hooked on the story or just reading on because you don’t want to give up, know that Season 3 is a return to some of the things fans first loved about the series.

This includes more fights and showdowns, which is a nice change of pace from the lackluster second season. It also returns to the core relationship between Rhaenyra (Emma Darcy) and Ariscent (Olivia Cooke), reminding us that behind all the special effects there’s great acting. You can follow all things war and politics until the final episode on August 9th.

Million Dollar Nanny, Disney+

Anyone looking for a slightly raunchy watch about the wealthiest families and accessible nannies on the Spanish island of Ibiza should definitely not miss this fresh reality premiere. The series is produced by the same executive producers as The Secret Life of Mrs. Mormon and features plenty of drama as well.

Each episode follows young nannies as they set up an agency in Ibiza and try to balance the high demands of their employers with their personal lives. Mixes that don’t always work out as expected. A deep dive into the world of #NannyTok, filled with silly questions that will make you want to watch.

Dear England, Clave

If there wasn’t enough drama to suit your tastes during the World Cup, why not turn to scripted fare this weekend with Dear England, a four-part adaptation of James Graham’s Olivier Award-winning play of the same name. The limited series stars Joseph Fiennes as former England men’s football manager Gareth Southgate and depicts the struggles and successes of the English football team.

This purely fictional work, based on a real person, offers an emotional look at players and politics, and may leave you wondering what really goes on behind the scenes at a football club. Also starring Jodie Whittaker, Jason Watkins, John Hodgkinson, Daniel Ryan, and Sam Spruell.
