As someone who tests new vacuums every month, I can easily make the case for why robot vacuums are better and why cordless vacuums are better. If you’re having trouble deciding, my ultimate advice is to always buy both. We promise there’s a budget-friendly way, especially when there are so many great vacuum cleaners on sale on Prime Day.
Should you buy a robot vacuum or a stick vacuum?
If you know deep down that the only way to vacuum your house every day is to have a robot do it for you, a robot vacuum is for you. If you’re a stickler for cleanliness and find housework cathartic rather than boring, a cordless vacuum cleaner is for you. If you’re passionate about either side, there are plenty of splurge-worthy vacuum cleaner deals I’ve tested, including the Dyson V15 Detect Extra and Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete.
However, most people will want to utilize both types of vacuum cleaners, depending on how busy their day is. In that case, we recommend splitting your vacuum cleaner budget. Instead of spending $700 to $1,000 on a really good vacuum, you can also buy an affordable stick vacuum like the Shark Clean & Empty for $269.99 or an affordable robot vacuum like the Dreame D30 Ultra CE for $399.99. Both are still incredibly strong for the price, and with more vacuum sales coming by the end of Prime Day on June 27th, you’ll have tons of combination options.

Why I like it
For years, we’ve been conditioned to shove ugly vacuum cleaners in the closet when not in use, or leave plasticky gray and black designs in our living spaces, no matter how much they clash with our decor. Things changed when Shark released its Luxe Collection in early June. The powerful self-emptying PowerDetect Speed stick vacuum now comes in four chic earth tones: Autostone, Harbor Slate, Walnut, and Sagewood. Everything is $100 off at SharkNinja.

Not only are these Shark PowerDetect Speed models the prettiest vacuums I’ve ever seen, the Shark PowerDetect Speed is the best cordless vacuum for removing pet hair on carpets I’ve ever tested. You can feel the suction power, but it’s not strong enough to cause the vacuum to clog your carpet. Every time you hang up the storage dock, all debris is automatically ejected into the storage dock, so your next cleaning session always starts with a clean slate. You can easily see specifically how much dirt has been sucked out from each room.

Why I like it
I tested the Eufy C28, released in February 2026, and loved it. And we have a feeling this will continue to be one of the most recommended robot vacuum and mop combos for the next year or so.
The Eufy C28 is probably the most affordable roller mop robot vacuum you can find right now, and definitely the most durable mop robot vacuum of the season. The fluffy rollers span the entire bottom of the vacuum and rinse with fresh water while mopping, making it a much more reliable choice for absorbing large liquid spills (without making a mess on the surrounding area) than other cheaper mop robot vacuums. The self-emptying dock washes and dries the mop after every cleaning, making it easy to forgive the painfully noisy mop.
