OnlyFans star Sophie Laing is often seen lounging in bikinis on Instagram, TikTok, and X, where she boasts a combined 27 million followers, but on the day of her interview with Mashable, she was experiencing something not-so-sexy. This means that the water pipe will break.

“I haven’t been able to drink water since morning, and the whole day goes on like that,” she said. Lane, who owns livestock such as cows and goats, had to give them bottles of water earlier in the day after a hose broke down. Typically, Lane’s morning routine includes checking on her animals to see if any predators are approaching. “That’s my biggest fear: I woke up one morning and there was a coyote,” she said.

But Lane’s claim to fame has nothing to do with farm life. She rose to fame in 2024 as an OnlyFans star and creator of the content mansion Bop House. (“Bop” stands for “baddie on point” and often refers to women who create sexy content online.)

Rain has since left Bop House, but still occasionally creates social media content with other OnlyFans creators. Among them is controversial child YouTube star Piper Lockell, who started her OnlyFans account when she turned 18.

Rain is controversial, but not surprising on an increasingly anonymous, anti-porn internet. Mandatory age verification laws in many U.S. states, the U.K., and elsewhere require proof of age, such as submitting a government ID or facial scan, to access explicit content, or non-explicit content that the state deems adult-only, such as certain Reddit threads.

However, Rain says he hasn’t actually filmed porn and, in fact, has never had sex. That’s why GQ declared her the “Clean Queen of the Dirty Internet” in early 2026. That may have also contributed to her explosive success. The 20-something (her profile says she’s 21, but she told GQ she won’t reveal her real age for privacy reasons) claims to have made $100 million from the platform (more on that later). And despite her seemingly sordid career, she’s saving up for something more wholesome someday: a homestead.

The birth of a $100 million OnlyFans star

In a 2024 interview with People magazine, Lane said she grew up poor and that her family received food stamps. When she started her OnlyFans account in 2023, she said she was working as a food server and was fired for her account, but it quickly turned into a lucrative business.

Rain started Bop House in late 2024, but left a few months later in July 2025. But that hasn’t stopped her success. The author claims to have made more than $100 million from the platform, but she struggled when asked to provide screenshots to Mashable, and her team did not respond to requests for screenshots. She said her video calls with Mashable were fine, but the Wi-Fi wasn’t working. However, in November 2024, she posted a screenshot to X that showed her One Year Earnings on OnlyFans platform was over $43 million.

“I still have my limits and I won’t do anything offensive on the site.”

$100 million or not, Rain is making money off of her revealing nude images, as long as they are indicative of her lifestyle. She recently visited Paris for Fashion Week and was in the news for her association with Lookmax’s Clavicular. Latest TMZ headline: “Max Sing is more than a friend… V card crisis!?”

Lane told Mashable that she would never film herself having sex (though she would eventually have sex). “I still have my limits and I won’t do anything offensive on the site,” she said.

Mashable Trend Report

The virgin label aligns with Rain’s Christian values. She’s not the only OnlyFans creator profiting from this seeming contradiction. Anya Lakey, a MAGA-loving Christian conservative, also posts nudes on OnlyFans. Lane and Lacey, both Floridians, are speaking out against Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishbach, whose platform includes a “50 percent sin tax” on OnlyFans creators.

“Who are you to judge sin?” Lane said of the proposed tax in an interview with CNN. “Only God can judge sin.”

“I think it’s great,” she told the press about OnlyFans. “It’s created so many opportunities for me, and I’m so grateful to be here.”

Reign echoed the same sentiment, telling Mashable, “I’m literally going to keep going. I love what I do and I enjoy it. It’s really given me an amazing opportunity. Now that I’ve made money online, I can continue to pursue what I want to do and continue to do bigger things.”

And even though Project 2025, the far-right blueprint for President Donald Trump’s second term, outlines a complete ban on pornography and jailing its creators, Lane told Mashable that he doesn’t believe such a ban will ever be passed. (Bans have been proposed in Michigan and elsewhere, but these bills have not made it into law, likely due to major First Amendment hurdles.)

“We live in a free country, so I believe we have freedom of speech and freedom to do what we want,” she told Mashable. “I don’t think we should be inherently isolated just because of what we do online.”

“A lot of people, when they’re on OnlyFans, they immediately think they’re a porn star and they’re a slut and all that stuff,” she said, noting that OnlyFans started as an “SFW” platform, meaning it’s a safe place to work. The explicit side began in earnest after a large portion of OnlyFans’ parent company was sold to Leonid Radvinsky, founder of porn site MyFreeCams, who passed away earlier this year. That, and the coronavirus lockdown, made OnlyFans suddenly famous, along with the implication that it was pornographic.

Sophie Rain’s advice for OnlyFans creators

But Rain reassures women that they don’t have to create porn to make money on OnlyFans. “I met people who were just selling their recipes,” she said. Earlier this year, Mashable interviewed fellow creator Sophie Anaston. Sophie Anaston stands at 6 for posting provocative content that is not nude.

“You have complete autonomy over everything. You can do whatever you want,” Lane said.

Her advice for budding OnlyFans creators? “Do what makes you happy. Do what you feel comfortable with and put out content that you enjoy. You’ll never get bored,” she said.

“Do what makes you happy. Do what you’re comfortable with and put out content that you enjoy. You’ll never get bored of it.”

While Lane plans to continue posting content to her millions of followers, she is also pursuing her goal of becoming a homesteader. As she told GQ, she owns 20 acres of farmland and dreams of raising cattle and becoming a local butcher.

“I really want to continue what my grandfather did and take care of livestock, because that’s what I grew up doing…I love doing it,” she told Mashable.

But for now, Rain continues to create content and tend to her livestock. She hasn’t dabbled in Homestead content yet, but on her burner TikTok account (“a place where you can completely rot your brain,” she said), Rain’s FYP is all livestock.
