Sheer styles from Lizzo, Coco Jones and more

Sheer styling made a comeback on the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Famous stars such as Lizzo and Coco Jones incorporated see-through fabric motifs into their respective designer looks, highlighting the timelessness of the modern material.

Basil Soda, Custom Christian Cowan and other designers created pieces worn by those arriving on Sunday night, featuring sheer fabrics throughout. WWD examines these views and beyond.

Love Island star Serena Page turned to Rahul Mishra for his crystal-clear look. The TV personality wore a black and white dress from the designer’s Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection. This dress is designed with sheer black fabric and paintbrush style elements on the bodice in white, black and gray tones. Paige also completed her outfit with black platform heels by Flor de Maria.

Hollandria also showed through with a burst of yellow, courtesy of Theo Figlio. The “Love Island” alum’s gown is designed with a halter neckline and a statement cutout at the front of the bodice, creating a very plunging neckline. A thigh-high slit added asymmetry to the look, and the skirt featured billowing sheer yellow fabric that tracked Hollandria on the carpet upon arrival. She completed her look with Femme LA metallic gold heels and Alexis Bittar jewelry.

Rizzo

Lizzo has customized her look. The “Like a Girl” singer wore a Christian Cowan x Elias Mazzo corset crystal net dress in shades of brown. The bodice of the dress was mostly fitted, while the skirt had a flowing texture with sheer sparkling details. The singer’s look was overseen by stylist Kristen Richie.

Basil Soda was the designer of Coco Jones’ dress. The Grammy Award-winning artist wore a sultry red dress from the designer’s Spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection. The strapless gown has a cutout below the bustline, a symmetrical cutout at the hips, and is reinforced with criss-cross fabric. The flowing skirt was sheer and included a short train that tracked the singer down the carpet upon which she arrived.

Amaya Espinal

Amaya Espinal Sees Green at PatBO Espinal’s halter dress featured all-over crystal embroidery and the sheer fabric underneath was accentuated by the skirt. A cutout at the bust creates a keyhole effect, and it features a form-fitting bodice and sleeveless design.

The 2026 BET Awards, hosted by comedian and internet personality Dolski, took place Sunday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and celebrated the breakthrough Black creatives of the past year. The annual awards ceremony honors writers, musicians, filmmakers and more, and celebrates and uplifts Black culture. Singer Lauryn Hill won the Living Legend Icon Award, and “One Battle After Another” Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor won the Icon of the Year award.
