Survival of the Sixth (Season 3), Netflix

Comedian Michelle Buteau’s star vehicle comes to an end with the third and final chapter, which drops on Netflix this week. The drama revolves around the adventures of a plus-size black woman named Mavis (Buteau) who rebuilds her life after a bad breakup. It’s a fun watch with plenty of fashionable moments, and we’re looking forward to more of both in the third season as Mavis works to expand her brand and influence as a stylist. A great supporting cast including Tone Bell and Marouane Zotti return, and Wanda Sykes and Ashley Graham join in guest appearances for the final season.

Elle, Prime Video

Have you ever wondered what Elle Woods was like in high school? Probably not, but Reese Witherspoon did. That’s why she’s executive producing this Legally Blonde prequel starring Lexi Minnettree. The eight-episode series launched on Canada Day and season two is already in production. The show revolves around Elle’s family moving her from colorful Bel Air to gray Seattle, where her signature pink color is one of the most off-putting things about her. The series aims to focus on the formative experiences that shaped the characters in the first film, and while it’s fine for younger viewers, its familiarity means it’s not all that new for fans of the original.

New series “President Curtis” starring Keith David.Stack TV/included

STACKTV President Curtis

President Curtis (Keith David) has always been one of Rick and Morty’s most memorable roles, and with adult animation in high demand on streaming services, it was only a matter of time before he got his own spinoff. With this interpretation, which sets aside the original grandfather and grandson duo and instead focuses on how President Curtis deals with the crisis that arises as a result of his family’s experiment, that time has come. That connection aside, this is a different show, one that embraces paranormal investigation and intrigue in the vein of The X-Files while leaning more into the workplace comedy overall.

Material Woman, BritBox

If you like British rags-to-riches stories, visit BritBox. There, the TV show based on Barbara Taylor Bradford’s best-selling novel is currently streaming its first season in weekly installments. Jessica Reynolds and Brenda Blethyn play Emma Hart, a woman who rises from servants’ quarters to millionaire in the early 1900s. Performances are one reason to watch, but melodrama is another. This show has plenty of romance, revenge, feuds, and plot twists to keep you hooked. Think Dallas meets Downton Abbey, aka perfect summer food.

Worst Neighbors Ever, Netflix

The creators of The Worst Ex Ever and The Worst Roommate Ever have released a new documentary series focusing on this new documentary. – Worst neighbor ever. Each episode tackles the stories of men and women whose arrival often disrupts the community with their incredible antics. Part of the fun is watching how these stories unravel and the extremes some people go to. At the very least, it’ll be a conversation starter the next time you attend a barbecue this summer. You’ll have plenty of weird stories to share while you wait for your burger to flip.
