When it comes to wedding guests’ attire, whether the invitation says black tie, beach casual, or cocktail, there’s almost always a floral print or two, and there’s often a jumpsuit displayed somewhere in the room. But at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding on Friday, a sizable group appeared to have received cleaner instructions: choosing colors and not walking around.

However, this did not mean that their clothes were modest. Removing much of the palette allowed more space for drape, transparency, and texture, and guests like Karlie Kloss, Camila Cabello, Erin Andrews, and Tree Payne, among others, each found a different route through their monochromatic evening dressings.

Kross has taken this idea to the British brand’s liquid gold strapless Tove Karam for the fall 2026 collection. The satin gathered in a narrow twist slightly off-center at the neckline, then folded wide diagonally across the bodice before tapering along the waist and hips.

The silver thong sandals and champagne satin clutch were close enough to the metallic tones of the dress without trying to match them too closely. Red lipstick became the only real starting point. Tove introduced this gown, which uses draping to make the gold fabric appear almost fluid, as one of the season’s occasion pieces.

Cabello embraced red right down to the pinkest edges in Zimmermann’s Spring 2026 ready-to-wear. Her rich lace dress opened with an off-the-shoulder ruffled neckline and a deep, narrow keyhole through the center of the bodice.

Long panels hung from the arms, like split cape sleeves, and gathered at the hips into a sheer, floor-length skirt. A black velvet choker with a silver cross pendant provided the outfit’s only hard stop, adding a dark, romantic aesthetic as did the diamond earrings.

Sports reporter Erin Andrews brought this idea to black for Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2026. Her halter dress had detailed sparkles from the bodice to the ruched, semi-sheer skirt, allowing the fabric to change with the light even as the palette remained fixed. She added black point-toe pumps and a softly folded clutch.

Payne, Swift’s PR extraordinaire, arrived wearing a slate version of Rachel Gilbert’s Rowana gown. It is cut snugly lengthwise from thick stretch jersey. A wide, asymmetrical fold falls over one shoulder and continues to hand-drape along the waist and hips.

The muted gray-brown color left the structure exposed, especially the contrast between the sculpted upper body and narrow skirt. She finished her look with black pumps and a small oval clutch with gold handles.

The narrow palette stood out against the arena-scale wedding weekend. Friday’s celebration drew about 1,000 guests to Madison Square Garden, following a rehearsal dinner for about 100 people at the Infosys Theater on Thursday. While Swift and Kelce didn’t publicly confirm their plans when guests started arriving, there was no mistaking the procession of tuxedos and floor-length gowns. For all the machinery that surrounds it, much of the guest dressing has settled on an unusually simple formula: one well-chosen color.
