Zendaya and others appointed as designers at ‘Odyssey’ Paris photocall

The “Odyssey” press tour continued on Tuesday with the cast arriving in Paris. Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o and more wore designer threads and jewelry as they posed in front of the Eiffel Tower at Trocadero Place for their latest photo shoot.

Despite the unofficial Greek dress code, some stars deviated, favoring contemporary pieces from Tom Ford and sparkling designs from Armani Prive. WWD analyzes these forward-looking statements.

Lupita Nyong’o

Nyong’o wore an Armani Prive dress on Tuesday. The Oscar-winning “Never End” actress’ sleeveless dress was in a deep burgundy tone and featured intricate sparkling embellishments throughout. As for accessories, Nyong’o wore pieces from the brand Hearts on Fire, including gold and diamond drop earrings and a two-row pavé diamond ring. The actress was styled by Michaela Erlanger.

Zendaya continued her method dressing approach on the Odyssey press tour, wearing designs from Givenchy’s Spring 1997 Couture collection. Under the creative direction of the late Alexander McQueen, the dress evoked high drama with a Greek sensibility that Zendaya and her longtime collaborator and stylist Law Roach injected into this latest press tour.

The white dress featured sharp shoulders and draped long sleeves, with a slightly plunging neckline cutting into a sculptural silhouette. The “Euphoria” Emmy winner wore a golden mask with a structure that evoked architectural ingenuity with the Eiffel Tower in the background. Zendaya accessorized her look with Forpe jewelry.

Charlize Theron opted for a sleek, modern look at Tom Ford. The Oscar-winning “Monster” actress wore a black blazer with a soft, buttery yellow button-down and silky silver shorts for her photocall outfit on Tuesday. Leslie Flemer styled Theron’s look.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway went the custom Prada route. The actress, who is pregnant with her third child with husband Adam Schulman, wore a navy dress with a sheer fabric neckline and shimmering appliqués. The Oscar winner completed her look with earrings from Bvlgari, of which Hathaway is an ambassador. Stylist Erin Walsh curated Hathaway’s Paris photocall ensemble.

Based on the Greek mythology epic by Homer, “The Odyssey” depicts Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he struggles to return to his hometown of Ithaca after the Trojan War. The film will be released in theaters on July 17th.
