Sidney Raskind may have tried many life hacks, but she only carries one bag with all her content creation essentials.

The 30-something creator, known online as Sydney Raz, has undeniably made the phrase “things I wish I knew before I turned 30” his own, trying out hacks on everything from how to properly extend a car’s sun visor to how to turn an allen wrench. His short videos became popular on TikTok in 2021, and he has been a full-time content creator for nearly five years.

He may be new to knowing how to properly open an email, but he’s been in content creation for nearly 20 years, working both in front of and behind the camera. As you can see, he knows how to use a great kit to create content. We caught up with him at VidCon 2026 to learn about his favorites.

Raskind said one of the best things about modern content creation is that the barrier to entry when it comes to equipment is much lower than it used to be. “You can do everything on your phone, and you can get refurbished products very cheaply.” He personally uses an orange iPhone 17 Pro.

“Good sound quality improves everything,” Raskind tells Mashable. That’s why content creators carry not one, but two types of microphones: the Rode Mic Go and the Rode Wireless Pro.

Truly a portable tripod

Raskind gave Mashable a complete demonstration of this ultra-portable tripod. This is a tripod that can be placed anywhere! he said as he pulled out a card-shaped metal device from his pocket.

“Oh, you’re lying, it won’t work, it won’t work,” he joked as he unrolled it. “Yes, that’s right!” he declared triumphantly, unfolding his cell phone and placing it freestanding on a functioning tripod. (And it’s on sale for Prime Day).

A bag to carry everything

Raskind arrived at Mashable’s VidCon booth with this weatherproof bag filled with everything he needed to create content. “A panel on one of my bags will be presented tomorrow,” he told us.
